About
Ape Shifter is a heavy instrumental rock trio formed in Germany in 2015. Their sound is driven by crushing riffs, technical precision, and fearless creativity — blending heavy rock with elements of jazz, ‘70s rock, and experimental influences, always pushing well beyond genre boundaries.
Frontman Jeff Aug is a Maryland-born, Germany-based guitarist with a remarkable solo career behind him — including a Guinness World Record for the most concerts performed in different countries in 24 hours (set twice). Before forming Ape Shifter, he toured and performed alongside legends including Allan Holdsworth, Soft Machine, Albert Lee, Jawbox, Shudder To Think, and Bodycount.
On stage, Ape Shifter delivers cinematic compositions that unfold like narratives — undeniably heavy, but with a sense of playfulness that keeps audiences locked in every step of the way. They have shared stages with Villagers of Ioannina City, Loudness, The Skull, Mörglbl, and White Cowbell, and headlined the main stage at Zytanien Festival.
Four European tours across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Netherlands — and they’re just getting started.
